Apocalypse now?
Will Western imperialism eat itself before it manages to eat us all?
British families are day tripping to RAF Fairford to watch American bombers leave for Iran -one is reminded of the Israelis who partied while watching Gaza burn.
“It’s definitely cheaper than a trip to a theme park,” said Jonathan Wilkinson, who was there with wife, Katie, and three sons, aged seven to 12. “The sights and sounds are impressive. But it’s a bittersweet thing. These planes are only here because of war. We have to keep that in mind.”
The parents of Tehran fear those bombers may murder their children, so more bitter than sweet for them. Donald Trump says that unless Iran promptly capitulates that “an entire civilisation will die tonight, never to be brought back again” a clear threat towards nuclear attack, meanwhile BBC News UK leads with the story that Kanye West has been blocked from coming to Britain.
UK families in need of another day out will surely hope that Trump’s Enola Gay will fly from a nearby airbase, while genocide plane spotting remains way cheaper than Lego Land, one has to take into account doomsday petrol prices.
The forthcoming UK Holocaust Memorial, adjacent to the Houses of Parliament (a monument of fealty to Tel Aviv) is being built by a government that is silent about Trumps’ war crimes / genocidal threats in Iran but remains a co-sponsor of Israel’s genocide in Palestine.
Labour MP Stella Creasey is a strong supporter of the Holocaust memorial but opposes Palestine Action’s efforts to halt another, voting to criminalise them as terrorists instead. Stella also swerved backing:
Sanctions against Israel
A suspension of arms sales to Israel
Calls to uphold the ICC arrest warrants against Bibi et al.
As regards Iran Stella said that:
“International law has to matter in all situations, not just when it’s politically expedient. The people of Iran who have suffered under the ayatollahs need us to ask why it has failed to protect them.
As the people of Iran, Lebanon and Palestine pick through the rubble of homes destroyed by Israeli bombs and bury their loved ones, they might reflect that the blanket impunity afforded to Israel by politicians like Stella might have something to do with it. Stella’s partner Dan Fox is a former Labour Friends of Israel [LFI] director. Stella herself has made the pilgrimage to Israel paid for by LFI.
But fear not, Stella was given a platform by The Guardian to opine that hatred of the other “leads to a dark place” with the victim in question being… Stella Creasey. You see, she got some stick about an online video of her dancing and for her that crossed a red line.
“I have yet to see any posts berating those politicians who boast about the amount of time they spend in the pub from any of those who devoted hours of criticism to my poor two-step.”
Stella reportedly received “death threats” and “vile commentary” from the usual yobbos which is not right, but I get dogs abuse and death threats too and all sans of any accrual of celebrity and money.
As the world edges towards a nuclear Armageddon, there is something perversely fitting about British families munching packed lunches while watching US bombers depart to kill Iranian families, something akin to the last hours of the Titanic about MPs doing Strictly Come Dancing in Parliament and something wearily predictable about Stella opining that we must uphold international law in Iran while giving Israel a pass and then saying that the real victims are politicians.
British society these days resembles a collection of disconnected scenes from Terry Gilliam’s Orwellian 1984 redux ‘Brazil’, truth has been abandoned to market forces, politics is a surreal circus of grotesquely distorted puppets, hollow sound-bites and hidden hand-shakes.
What used to be unthinkable has now become ordinary, perhaps if Trump does nuke Iran then the National Trust can take over the land around Lakenheath and Fairfield for an all-day car park and information centre, a gift-shop can sell model B2 bombers, gold statues of Trump and splinters of bone from the now extinct human species that used to live in the Middle East.
While significant opposition remains, too many in the US and the UK are either cheerleaders for genocide or apathetic spectators. I look out at the whole freak show of what passes for civilisation in the Western empre with feelings of resignation, fascinated horror and furious rage.
Am I surprised at what I see unfolding? Yes, well a bit.
Should I be surprised at what I see unfolding? No.
A quick glance at history should have prepared us for all this and as such only one question now remains extant…
…will Western imperialism eat itself before it manages to eat us all? By around 1am tonight we will have at least an interim answer to that question.

To say that the article identifies the grotesqueness and not least the perversity of an 'aspiring' middle-aged society here in the UK, is not only an understatement, but it also lays bare the manipulation of a society that chooses to be brainwashed, dumbed down and infantilised, by social media et al. Shame on them and our self-serving politicians and media owners.
Like the Chosenazis, any expectations of the Brits are consistently lowered.
